A speaker is an electroacoustic transducer that converts an electrical audio signal into sound waves. Speakers are used to reproduce audio in a variety of settings, including home entertainment systems, car stereos, public address systems, and professional recording studios.

A speaker typically consists of a cone-shaped diaphragm that is attached to a voice coil. When an electrical audio signal is applied to the voice coil, it creates a magnetic field that interacts with a permanent magnet in the speaker, causing the diaphragm to vibrate and produce sound waves. The sound waves are then emitted from the speaker through a port or opening in the speaker housing.

Speakers come in a variety of shapes and sizes, ranging from small, portable speakers to large, high-powered speakers used in concert venues and other large spaces. They also vary in terms of their frequency response, power handling capabilities, and overall sound quality.
