Thermal Printer Information

A thermal printer is a type of printer that uses heat to produce printed output. There are two types of thermal printers: direct thermal printers and thermal transfer printers.

Direct thermal printers use heat-sensitive paper that is coated with a special material that changes color when it is exposed to heat. The printer heats up the paper to create text or images. These printers are commonly used for printing receipts, tickets, and other types of small documents.

Thermal transfer printers use a heated ribbon to transfer ink onto paper or other materials. The printer heats up the ribbon, which melts the ink and transfers it onto the paper. These printers are used for printing labels, barcodes, and other types of text and graphics that require high resolution.
