VCD

 VCD stands for Video Compact Disc

Which is an optical storage medium used for storing video and audio content. VCDs were introduced in the 1990s and became popular in countries where DVD players were not yet widely available.

A VCD is a circular disc made of polycarbonate plastic, with a diameter of 120mm and a thickness of 1.2mm. The data is stored on a spiral track of pits and lands molded into the surface of the disc. A VCD can store up to 800 MB of data, which is equivalent to about 74 minutes of video.

To play a VCD, a laser beam is used to scan the surface of the disc and detect the changes in reflectivity caused by the pits and lands. The data is then converted into digital signals that can be decoded by a VCD player or computer.
