Once your clips are on the timeline, you can easily move, insert, or delete them to arrange your project in the perfect order. Understanding this helps you organize your story smoothly and professionally.
🎞️ 1. Moving Clips on the Timeline
You can rearrange clips by dragging them to a new position.
Steps:
- 
Click on the clip you want to move. 
- 
Hold the left mouse button and drag it to a new place on the timeline. 
- 
Release the mouse button when you see the blue indicator line showing where the clip will be dropped. 
Tips:
- 
Turn on Snap Tool (magnet icon) so clips automatically align without leaving gaps. 
- 
You can move multiple clips at once by selecting them together (Shift + Click). 
➕ 2. Inserting a Clip
Inserting means adding a new clip between two existing clips.
Steps:
- 
Move the Playhead to the position where you want to insert. 
- 
Drag the new clip from the Media Library onto the timeline. 
- 
Drop it between two clips — the other clips will automatically shift forward. 
Alternate Method:
- 
Right-click on a clip and select Insert if available (depending on Filmora version). 
Example: Add an intro or transition scene between two video clips.
❌ 3. Deleting a Clip
To remove unwanted clips or mistakes from your timeline:
Steps:
- 
Select the clip you want to delete. 
- 
Press Delete or Backspace on your keyboard. 
Types of Deletion:
- 
Delete (Normal): Removes the clip but leaves a gap. 
- 
Ripple Delete: Removes the clip and automatically closes the gap. 
Ripple Delete Shortcut:
- 
Right-click the clip → choose Ripple Delete. 
💡 Tips for Clean Editing:
- 
Always keep clips close together to avoid blank screens. 
- 
Use Ripple Delete for fast, gap-free edits. 
- 
Save your project frequently (Ctrl + S) to avoid losing progress.
